      Green Day is an American punk rock band formed in 1986 by vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong and bassist Mike Dirnt. For a substantial part of Green Day existence, they have been a trio together with the drummer Tré Cool, who joined the band in 1990, replacing John Kiffmeyer in 1990.
