Nick Mulvey is a singer-songwriter who previously studied ethnomusicology at the School of Oriental and African Studies. While studying, he met Duncan Bellamy, Jack Wyllie, and Milo Fitzpatrick, who would later form the band Portico Quartet. The band's debut album, Knee-deep in the North Sea, was nominated for the 2008 Mercury Prize alongside other notable artists. Mulvey left Portico Quartet in 2011 to pursue a solo music career, releasing his first EP, The Trellis, in 2012. He has since released multiple albums and singles, with his latest album, Wake Up Now, being released in 2017. Mulvey's style of music has been noted to remain consistent throughout his solo career.
