The Black Keys, an American rock pair, originated from Akron, Ohio, in 2001, with members Dan Auerbach (guitar, vocals) and Patrick Carney (drums). Starting off independently, they created music in basements and produced their own albums, which led them to become leading figures in the garage rock movement's resurgence in the 2000s. Their sound, deeply rooted in blues, reflects the influence of artists like Junior Kimbrough, R.L. Burnside, Howlin' Wolf, and Robert Johnson.

The duo, lifelong friends, formed the band after leaving college and quickly caught attention with their debut album, "The Big Come Up" (2002), under indie label Alive, which paved their way to a contract with Fat Possum Records. Over the ensuing years, The Black Keys gained a dedicated following through relentless touring, album releases, festival performances, and the widespread use of their music in various media. Their third album, "Rubber Factory" (2004), brought them significant acclaim, leading to a major label deal with Nonesuch Records in 2006. Transitioning from homemade recordings, they produced their fifth album, "Attack & Release" (2008), in a professional studio with the help of producer Danger Mouse, marking the start of a recurring collaboration.

Their major commercial success began with the album "Brothers" in 2010, which won three Grammy Awards, fueled by the hit "Tighten Up." The following album, "El Camino" (2011), was also critically acclaimed and led to their first arena tour. "El Camino" and its standout track "Lonely Boy" earned them three more Grammys. In 2014, they released "Turn Blue," topping charts in the US, Canada, and Australia. After the "Turn Blue Tour" in 2015, the duo paused for solo endeavors and production work, returning in 2019 with "Let's Rock" and later releasing "Delta Kream" (2021), a collection of blues covers, followed by "Dropout Boogie" (2022).
